Not that Super Chilli Ban Mee

7 April 2008

Last Saturday, I have decided to try out Restaurant Super Kitchen’s Chilli Ban Mee which they imitated from my ever favourite Chilli Ban Mee from Restoran Kin Kin which I blogged about it last year.

Super Kitchen

This is a newly-opened branch in Dataran Sunway (Kota Damansara), apart from the one you find opposite Restaurant Kin Kin off Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

Super Kitchen inside

The setting of Super Kitchen is definitely more comfortable than Kin Kin’s old and stuffy one.

Let us not compare the forks and spoons, the floor or ceiling lights and et cetera. Most importantly, we should deliberate whether the Ban Mee deserves our loyalty like how Kin Kin still attracts me every fortnight!!

Dried Ban Mee

Kevin and I can’t wait to try the dried Ban Mee, as it looks good when being served to us.

Soup Ban Mee

Gerald, on the other hand tried the Ban Mee served in Soup.

Dried Chilli

The Dried Chilli, the main taste enhancer, is added to our Ban Mee.

Grace Ban Mee

Looking at the redness of my Ban Mee, you would know how many spoons of dried Chilli I have taken to sprinkle all over my noodles.

The VERDICT: The texture of the Ban Mee is not as bouncy as Kin Kin’s version. I find that there is something missing in Super Kitchen’s dried Chilli. Hence, I will definitely favour the Chilli Ban Mee from Kin Kin.

In short, I will not return to Super Kitchen and I would rather drive the extra kilometres to KL to get my bowl of Ban Mee from Kin Kin.

Thumbs Up for Curry Mee

3 April 2008

SunYuanFoong

Remember this?

I blogged about the Ipoh Old Town White Coffee back in September 2007.

Yes, traditionally and over the years, it has always been Sun Yin Loong and Sun Yuan Foong offering one of the best white coffee from Ipoh.

Sun Yin Loong
I apologise for the dark picture due to the settings of the phone.

Today, we have a branch from Ipoh’s Sun Yin Loong, located in Dataran Sunway. This coffee shop opens daily from morning till night, offering one of the best hawker stalls’ food in town.

Apparently, the owner went on food-testing before renting the hawker spaces to various tenants. It turned out that he was successful in picking the right hawkers that cook food with the right taste!

Curry Mee

I was itchified to try on the Curry Mee as there were a handful of customers busy gulping down the mee.

Look at this picture.

Is the Curry Mee inviting you for a bowl now?

Curry Mee

I simply cannot resist it. I have failed to live up with my principle “NO SUPPERS ALLOWED“.

This bowl of Curry Mee which costs RM4.50 definitely deserves my thumbs up!!

Kuey Teow Chicken - Vietnam Style!

17 February 2008

It’s been 3 weeks since I came back from Hanoi. I am still missing Vietnam right now. How can I not miss this country with lots of good street food?

hanoifood1

This particular street noodle stall is found in Hang Dao street, where almost every shop along the street is selling jackets and sweaters!

Can you even imagine how this narrow alley can fit a noodle stall?

hanoifood

Most of the food stalls here are found to be in this fashion and I believe if a person is as fat as Randy Jackson err, probably twice your size, would probably find it hard to squeeze in.

Not only that, all of us have to sit on the teeny-weeny stools to enjoy the food. It looks as if we’re squatting to shit answer nature call!

L-R: Ager, Soo, Me, Seng Yo (my ex-boss)

The usual stools that we find in Malaysia are being used as tables in Vietnam. This is particularly not tall-friendly as it strains the back muscles after long periods. My friend had to stand up and stretch every 5 minutes!!

hanoifood04

I can guarantee you 110% that this Vietnamese Kuey Teow Chicken is thousand times better than any you find in Ipoh!!
It’s so good that all of us took an extra serving!

Ah, who cares about backaches when we are able to enjoy slim and smooth Kuey Teow with Chicken in Hanoi?

Eating like a Dragon

22 January 2008

Yes, it’s all about Eating again in this entry. I am so sorry, guys for making you salivating all day long.

I recently visited Dragon-I at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.

DragonI

This is the entrance where people queue to be seated.

DragonI

The menu for Dragon-i comes in Bright red colour.

DragonI

The signature of Dragon-i are found almost everywhere in the restaurant.

DragonI

The Siu Loong Pau is Dragon-i’s Signature dish which costs RM8.00 for 1 set of 4 dumplings.

DragonI

Fried Rice cooked with Char Siew and shrimps are costly priced at RM16.00 per dish.

DragonI

This Sauteed Chicken with Dried Chilli looks like Kentucky’s Pop Corn Chicken, right?

DragonI

Then we also ordered Seafood Beancurd which cost us about RM18.00.

DragonI

Oh, this is my favourite. I love the Honey-Glazed Eels.

DragonI

This pork belly cost about RM22.00 per dish. If you love pork, you will love this.

DragonI

Guess what, the total of the dinner in Dragon-i was RM141.45 for 4 of us.

As you can see from the receipt, it cost about RM35.36 per person to enjoy this sumptuous dinner!!

EXPENSIVE-Lah!!!

Really felt as if I’m eating like a dragon here!!!
