I am glad to unleash some of my housewife genes during the weekends. I am talking about the kitchen department where I can hold my spatula or knead some dough.

On Saturday evening, I decided to bake my very first scones. Let the pictures tell you the story.

If you want to try baking them, you need these following ingredients:-
1. 225gm of self-raising flour
2. 40-50gm of butter (cubed)
3. pinch of salt
4. 1 teaspoon of baking powder
5. 150ml of milk
6. 15g of caster sugar

****************

Mix the flour, salt, butter and baking powder. Then add in the sugar and continue to mix till they resemble fine white breadcrumbs.

Add in milk and knead into dough. When a smooth dough is achieved, flatten the dough to be about 2 to 2.5 inches thick.

Pardon me, I didn’t have proper circular-cutter, thus I used a jar lid to make that round shape!

Do brush some milk on the top of the unbaked scones. Do not brush on the sides if you want the scones to rise properly.

Bake them at 220 degrees Celcius for 12 – 15 minutes. (Before that, preheat the oven for 15 minutes)

Let the freshly baked scones cool down at the wire rack.

And lastly, Scones are best served with butter, raspberry jam or cream cheese!

Yum yum yum!

I had no idea which stall offered the best Kolo Mee in town, but thank goodness Kenny Sia reaffirmed me that Sin Lian Shin’s Kolo Mee is quite good.

To me, it is similiar with West Malaysia’s combination of Wanton Mee + Hakka Mee. But it’s good. I love it.

Will be back to Kuching for more.

My mum has always been the conqueror of the kitchen as she prepares dinner for us daily. I for one, has inherited her cooking genes and the passion of cooking ignites me each time I have the opportunity to do so.

The other day I was cooking in a friend’s house again. I decided to prepare something which we often have when we are in the Chinese restaurants.

I guess everyone would agree with me that preparing is the most tedious part of cooking.

I have to ensure everything is prepared meticulously; whether it’s chopping the vegetables, slicing onions or dipping the meatballs into corn flour and et cetera.

Now, are you ready to look at my dishes?

Spring onion sliced beef with black pepper.

Sweet and Sour Pork (this is my favourite!!… oh gosh, I hope I am not making everyone hungry right now)

Stir-fry Broccoli with garlic

Sliced tomatoes with minced pork

Hmmm… yummy right? Oh gosh, time for breakfast and yeah, my stomach’s growling too!

Short Note: I would like to apologize for the long hiatus. I was busy with work and several things which needed more attention from me. I am back for good. I am ready to write, to blog again, and to kick butt at the same time. At this very second, I am pleased with the news from the High Court that YB Nizar is still the legitimate MB of Perak. Praise God for some justice finally!

**********************************

I have always enjoyed cooking. Just wonder how many of you have the passion of weaving magic with your hands in the kitchen.

It’s been quite some time now since I’ve held the knife and chopping board, let alone the wok and ladle!

The best thing about being in the kitchen is: being able to multitask! Boiling soup and stir-frying ain’t a problem! (read: plus handling the camera)

Simple dishes like ABC soup, scrambled eggs and stir-fried dried chilli chicken tastes great with the addition of CILI PADI!

Let’s look into the first dish… Omelette with minced pork. (Oops, no swine flu here)

Plain scrambled eggs may not taste that great, so you can mix in some meat (swine is nice) to add flavour!

Most of you out there know that I’m love spicy food and dried chillies adds that extra ummpphh! to any dish. Best is if the amount of dried chillies actually are more than the chicken chunks! MUAHAHAHA

The staple soup everyone should know is the ABC soup. Being a meat lover, I normally add heaps of pork (spare ribs, pork balls) into the vegetarian based stock. Throw in some taufus and it’ll taste yummy!

Kow Choi Flower as the Westerners would say. You definitely need some vege in your diet. Too much meat promotes gizi tak seimbang (read: imbalanced diet).

Happy Cooking for those who love cooking!!

Till then, see you in my next post!

I’m finally back from Penang. I’m kinda exhausted due to excessive travelling up and down at the moment. However, I’m just eager to update my blog as I found one of the best Penang Char Kueh Teow at Pulau Tikus.

You just need to take a drive towards Pulau Tikus. Don’t worry, you will not get lost as there are several signboards leading you there.

Kedai Kopi Sin Hwa is just directly opposite the Pulau Tikus police station.

Proudly presenting you one of the best Char Kueh Teows I have eaten in Penang. It definitely beats the famous Sisters Char Kueh Teow and the one in Lorong Selamat.

Since not many people knew about this place, the Char Kueh Teow was served within minutes.

Now, why don’t you give it a try when you’re in Penang? It’s only RM3.50 after all.

Recently, my dear friend, Timothy and I decided to pamper our taste buds at Tea for Two, a fine dining restaurant located in Bangsar.

I apologized for the vague picture as I didn’t bring a proper camera. I was just using my lil’ handphone camera (K850i) to snap.

IMHO, Tea for Two provides a perfect ambience and mood for loving couples especially when full attention is needed for tete-a-tete session.

Caesar Salad with Grilled Salmon was simply scrumptuous.

Main Course – Grilled Snapper with Sour Sauce

What made the fish excellent was the crispness of the skin that gave way to juicy and tender snapper meat. The sauce was just right.

Dessert of the night – Tangerine Sherbet with whipped cream

This dish will surely entertain Malaysian sweet tooth for TONG SUI.

All said and makan-ed, the look of utter satifaction on Tim’s face clearly justified the RM 98 that we paid for the dinner + a Caesar Salad.

Definitely will return to try the whole menu!!
