Missing Grandpa Dearly

18 October 2009

I apologize for the long hiatus. I blame it on the busy & hectic schedules while I also point the fingers at my addiction with FB’s application ‘Mousehunt‘.

I have nothing much to share except for honoring my late maternal grandpa. If you happen to have a copy of today’s Sin Chew Daily, you would probably come across the obituary of ‘Ng Boon Lan’. He passed away peacefully on Friday (16th Oct) morning and I got to say we will be missing him. I just pray that grandpa will seek peace eternally in life after death.

Grandpa bday 2009

Grandpa has lived a very long age. That’s almost a century. He sailed all the way from China with Grandma and my 1st aunty.  He survived World War II. He built his own factory that makes coaches and buses. He fed his 9 children well.

He was very proud to have 29 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren to-date.

He could even drive us around when he was still in his 80’s but as his eyesight gets worse, we stopped him from driving when he was around 86 years old.

Grandpa's bday 2009

Well, it was just like yesterday when I attended grandpa’s 93rd (94th according to Chinese calendar) birthday. In fact, the birthday celebration was held very recently – 4th October. Yes, it’s only 2 weeks ago.

I have to admit that it was so wrong of me to think that I would have at least another few years of grandpa’s birthdays to attend in future. This preposterous thought caused me not to have a latest picture taken with grandpa. This is really giving me a tight slap on my face.

To even think about it, I have so few photos taken with grandpa. I have a few hard copies of pictures taken during my childhood. And the only ones I am cherishing so much now are the ones I have taken since digital cameras came in trend.

Oh well, I am going to miss the way grandpa shouts and scolds when something agitates him. I am going to miss looking forward for grandpa’s birthday dinners. I am definitely going to miss kissing grandpa’s cheeks each time I say goodbye before going back to KL.

I am slightly emo now. Can’t think much to write of but I am certainly missing grandpa now.

The Love of A Father

21 June 2009

My daddy has always been someone whom I often look up as a role model in life.

Daddy and Me

A hardworking man diligently works long hours to ensure his family is well fed. As much as he spends most of his time working or traveling outstation (read: for work), he still finds ample time to look into his children’s welfares.

He is an avid reader, who doesn’t like to waste his precious time procrastinating. From there, you will realize that he is always found with a book or newspapers under his armpit wherever he goes. I guess I have cultivated the reading habit from him. It is his vast vocabulary and proficiency in English that has inspired me to read more. I can’t thank him enough for that. Without his advocacy of reading, I do not think I will be able to blog fluently here.
The amount of blood, sweat and tears he has shed for us children is beyond comprehension. Personally, I would not have experienced the best Pre-University (read:SAM) education available without his encouragement. I know that deep down inside my heart, Daddy has sacrificed so much, and in return, asked for so little.

The love of a father is unconditional. Though he may nag or complain at times, it is for our own good. I know I have to learn to please and honour my father more as life is unpredictable and I do not want to regret it later on in life for neglecting him

I love you, Daddy. Happy Father’s Day!

Mother’s Day Dinner

9 May 2005

I spent the weekend with my family in Ipoh to celebrate Daddy’s birthday as well as Mother’s day celebration in advance. It will be tough weekend for us due to some financial problems. But I know Daddy God from Heaven will shine His grace upon us.

The dinner with my family…. brother, daddy, mummy and me….

That is why I love my family so much. So much so much so much! I love them so much. Thank God for this family. Amen.
