Why Women Cheat

23 September 2009

*Names below are changed to protect their identities and this article is taken from Cosmopolitan, UK edition.

Sandy* 22, from UK agrees to the title above.

“I think cheating is wrong, so when I began sleeping with someone behind my boyfriend David’s back, it made me realise how unhappy I’d become”. David was her first real love but she says that, over time, they grew apart. “I got bored. He wanted to stay in all the time; I wanted to go out and do things. He didn’t have a proper job so never had much money. I just couldn’t see us having a future together. But he was my first love, I cared about him and I couldn’t bring myself to end it.”

Sandy met Aaron during the brief split from David last year and they had a fling. A few months on, she and David got back together, but she bumped into Aaron again and the pair started sleeping together while David was on a holiday. “Aaron was older, more mature, had a great job and wanted us to go out and do things together.” For Sandy, he was everything David wasn’t.

But Sandy couldn’t sustain her double life. One night David caught her trying to delete an incriminating text from Aaron and soon after, they separated. “I felt so guilty. I couldn’t carry on seeing two guys. But being with Aaron showed me I could be happy with someone else. In a way, it spurred me to end an unhappy relationship.” She and Aaron went on to see each other after that.

Sandy says she wouldn’t be able to forgive someone who cheated on her. “I’d be devastated and would end it there and then. It’d be so hurtful to think he’d needed to go elsewhere. It would really mess me up.”

She had never intended to be unfaithful, and she vows that she will never do it again. “I did it because I genuinely liked the other person. Yes, there was lust there, but it wasn’t just about sex. I just wanted someone to do things together with me. I think men are more likely to sleep with someone they’ve only just met in a club, although I also know plenty of men who wouldn’t dream of cheating.”

According to Brandy*, an infidelity expert, Sandy’’s experience is typical. Women’s primary reasons for straying a desire for intimacy, to feel close to someone or to recapture some feeling of romance. Sex comes to it, but it’s generally much lower down their list. Boredom can play a part too. “Most women cheat as a last resort, because they’re not getting what they want from their partners,” says Brandy.

Brandy says most of the reasons women give for cheating are things that could be easily remedied by a partner who’s willing to make the effort.

Infidelity

I somehow agree to disagree. Sounds confusing, am I?

The question is, WHY WOMEN CHEAT? Wait, does it apply here in Malaysia? This article is taken from UK. I don’t know. May be it does relate to some of you.

As the magazine says, female infidelity is on the rise. Sandy’s case is rather common for these days. You may despise them, you may envy them, you may wish you had it in you, you  may be even one of them. Whatever your view may be, women are more and more likely to be unfaithful. Even the infidelity expert, Brandy mentioned that women’s reasons for having affairs are generally more complex.

How complex can this be?

Let’s open up this blog for debates between men and women. :)

Dream Big Dreams

18 September 2009

Dreams come and go. I’m talking about dreams that you wish they will become reality, not the ones you have in your nightly bed affairs. These dreams may vary from time to time as you grow older. You may often ponder and wonder the whys and hows to make your dreams come true.

Dreams can be like the board game ‘Snakes & Ladders’. In order to achieve your dream, you may need to ride the roller coaster of life. Let’s look into the life of Abraham Lincoln. He had lost in several elections before he was elected the 16th President of United States of America. Look at Joseph from the Old testaments in the Bible. He was sold as a slave and later became a prisoner of the Egyptian cells before he became the well-known leader of Egypt.

What do you do when you have dreams which are yet to come true? Do you just sit and pray for them to come true? Do you get your acts and thoughts together to realize those dreams? Or perhaps, you know it’s impossible to achieve, therefore you just let your dreams pass by without even hoping or trying or praying. Hey, we’re not just talking about building sand-castles in the air. We’re talking about dreams that allow you to experience the liberating breakthrough.

I’m sure all of you have dreams. Be it dreams of climbing the corporate ladder, owning a business, flying a jet or conquering Mount Everest, you will have to fit all the missing puzzles together to fulfill your dreams. If you have a dream today, do not allow it to sit for too long. Fulfill it. Accomplish what you have always wanted to do.

I, too have a dream. In fact, there are a few dreams on my plate. Will I be able to accomplish and make my dreams come true? It is unquestionably the time for me to ponder on my reachable-yet-challenging dreams.

Snippets of Melbourne

9 September 2009

Melbourne oh Melbourne.

St Kilda Road

I have heard of this city since I was in primary school. And here I am, placing my first ever footprints in Melbourne.

Kim & Me

Friends are moving here one by one. The latest friend to join in the migration crowd is Kim.

It was more than a trip of work and play for me in Melbourne even though it lasted approximately 72 hours only. There’s so many eating outlets and I would love to try them all. No particular Aussie dish as the community is kinda dilluted. Not to mention the influx of Asian immigrants here. What I enjoy most would be the Italian cuisine.

Chicken Parmigiana

It was just simply enticing and mouth-watering.

With such a short period, I definitely could not discover more. I will probably come back with my own savings. Save, save, save! I have yet to experience the Koalas and Kangaroos, Mt Bhuller, Great Ocean Road and et cetera.

St Kilda Beach

Nevertheless, the added advantage of this trip was being able to catch up with friends I don’t see frequently.

This trip also allowed me to experience Planetshakers’ church which is located at Dallas Brooks Centre.

Planetshakers Melbourne - Dallas Brooks centre

I grew up listening to both Hillsong and Planetshakers, and being able to experience how a usual Sunday service goes, was definitely enriching. Going to share a 1.5-minute video of the first song during the praise & worship with you through this youtube below:-

The last time I attended a PS Conference was back in Dec 2006 and the team did drop by at City Church KL for a visiting Sunday in April 2008. Gosh, that was so long ago. Most of all, I was more than glad to tag Kim along, and a liberating moment came when Kim re-dedicated her life to God.

Hmm, thanks to Sunny, he took me for a quick tour around La Trobe University.

Sounds familiar?

La Trobe University

Well, that’s my university which I never had a chance to study here, but to complete the degree from this university at Nilai campus.

My heart sort of like melted when I saw the scenic landscape around the institution. The question kept popping in and out of my head “Why didn’t I have the chance to experience the education here?”. Oh, things do happen for a reason. Not by coincidence, not by human chance or luck. It’s already pre-destined by our heavenly Father. Well, maybe I will have a chance to further my studies in near future. I’ll never know what is in store for me.

Truth to be told, I just can’t get enough of the eclectic Melbourne.

Parliament Street

How can 72 hours be enough for such a beautiful place? The chilly weather is simply revivifying for me. I have always been in awe of temperatures between 8 – 18 degrees Celcius. Oh well, the grass is always greener on the other side. Isn’t it?

Stuffed Koalas and Kangaroos

As I mentioned, I have yet to touch and see real Koalas or Kangaroos.

Thus, I will be back, no doubt.

A Little on Melbourne

6 September 2009

It was a long day in Melbourne for me yesterday.

Convention + catching up with a childhood friend, Kim Ong, who is well-known among us in blogosphere and celebrity world.

Here we are at the South bank area, looking for a place to dine and catch up. The last time I met Kim was during her wedding in late June.

Decided to have an Italian moment with La Camera.

I ordered a Gnocchi Amatriciana, sprinkled with lots of parmesan cheese over it.

Kim settled with Antipasti Misto which serves for two. A big appetite allowed her to indulge all by herself. I salute her elastic tummy!

And wait, this is what I found before I went for my convention. I managed to capture this little shot on Flinders Street.

Yeah, it’s not about all play in this trip. Need to do some work too!!

I was giggling when I picked up this book in my hands. The book says “We Need to Talk About Kevin“.

Hmm, which Kevin? My Kevin?
