My Very First Scones
26 July 2009
I am glad to unleash some of my housewife genes during the weekends. I am talking about the kitchen department where I can hold my spatula or knead some dough.
On Saturday evening, I decided to bake my very first scones. Let the pictures tell you the story.
If you want to try baking them, you need these following ingredients:-
1. 225gm of self-raising flour
2. 40-50gm of butter (cubed)
3. pinch of salt
4. 1 teaspoon of baking powder
5. 150ml of milk
6. 15g of caster sugar
****************
Mix the flour, salt, butter and baking powder. Then add in the sugar and continue to mix till they resemble fine white breadcrumbs.
Add in milk and knead into dough. When a smooth dough is achieved, flatten the dough to be about 2 to 2.5 inches thick.

Pardon me, I didn’t have proper circular-cutter, thus I used a jar lid to make that round shape!
Do brush some milk on the top of the unbaked scones. Do not brush on the sides if you want the scones to rise properly.

Bake them at 220 degrees Celcius for 12 – 15 minutes. (Before that, preheat the oven for 15 minutes)

Let the freshly baked scones cool down at the wire rack.

And lastly, Scones are best served with butter, raspberry jam or cream cheese!
Yum yum yum!
