Soul-Searching Needed

14 December 2008

Dear active readers,

I apologize for the long hiatus. I am going through some ups and downs in my life, and this has affected my blogging pace. I hope I could come back to entertain you with all my travel journals or food-glorious entries and some laughter posts as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, I need to search through my soul and find out what’s happening deep inside me. At times, I felt like I am an additional pain in the ass to the world. Struggling within myself is never a good thing and I hope I can come out of it soon.

Once again I apologize for missing in action. I promise to blog more often as soon as I entangle the knots in my life.

Love you guys a lot.

Grace

Viva España at Madrid

5 December 2008

Let’s talk about Madrid. Well, there’s no direct flight from KL to Madrid. You would have to choose connecting flights through MAS or KLM or SIA or Thai Airways and et cetera.

Because of the rising air fares, our company decided to choose Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM). It was a night flight from KL, and took us 12.5 hours to land in Amsterdam Schipol Airport.

Honestly speaking, I hate to take long haul flights. 6 hours is enough to kill my skin. Thanks to the dry air in the flight, causing my nose to crack! Well, not literally crack, but it is bad enough to cause damage and dehydrate my pretty face! :(

Upon reaching Amsterdam, we have to quickly move our asses to the next connecting flight to Madrid. Schipol airport is super big that you can actually get lost in it.

Well, the departure terminal was not that easily-get-lost after all as we could locate our boarding gate effortlessly. I was just thinking that it might be another damaging flight (read: my skin).

It’s good to observe the rays of the light when I was trapped in total darkness for the past umpteen hours in the flight.

Here I am in Madrid International Airport.  It’s not a mega-sized airport but comparable to our own Subang airport.

Amazed as I can be, the word ‘Cinta’ in Spanish means belt.

So in future you might want to express to your loved ones as ‘I belt you’ because  ‘I Cinta You!‘ (LOL!)

Ola Madrid!

Time to roam around after being drowsy and groggy and DEHYDRATED in two flights!

The airport is about 15-20 minutes drive from the city. In Madrid, you don’t expect too many Japanese cars like in Malaysia. Continental cars are always Europeans’ top preference.

Perhaps out of 10 cars I see on the road, I noticed there’s only 1 Honda or 1 Kia. The rest will be Fiat, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, my beloved BMW, my adored Audi, Volvo and etc.

Here I am in the 16th Century district. Trust me, I fell in love with the buildings. No wonder, it’s under UNESCO World Heritage (Am I right? I hope I am right about this).

Hang on!!

Why is McDonald’s green in color?

Here I am in front of the Royal Palace. It’s blardy expensive to pay Euro $8 when you convert to Ringgit. You will be paying RM40 to enter this palace.

One of the gates built in memory of the Spanish royalty and blablabla (read: find out from Spanish history books ya).

Spain always attract both locals and tourists in the shopping district. Though Spain has 41 million of population, this Southern Europe nation attracts 60 million tourists a year. Isn’t it amazing?

And ya, check out the EMBLEM for Madrid.

It is a bear trying to climb up the raspberry tree!! BEAR, is that you??
