Manchester United – Euro Champions 2008!!

22 May 2008

“Glory, Glory, Man United. As the Reds go marching on….”

Manchester United are Champions of Europe for the third time after beating Chelsea in dramatic fashion… 6-5 on penalties.

You cannot believe this.

Edwin van der Sar was the hero as United were crowned champions of Europe for the third time after a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

It was definitely a dramatic and tiring match for each player on the Moscow pitch.

Manchester United were temporarily down to ten men whilst Paul Scholes received treatment for a bloodied nose after a clash with Claude Makelele – for which both players were booked with a yellow card each. Thankfully Scholes was back in time to play his part in the opening goal.

It was definitely a neat play between Scholes and Wes Brown after a throw-in on the right flank gave Brown time to pick out a cross for Ronaldo who expertly directed his header past Petr Cech – his 42nd goal of a staggering season. Can you believe it? 42 goals for 2007/2008!!!

I definitely didn’t expect this to happen.
Didier Drogba was sent off for a petulant slap on Nemanja Vidic at the end of extra-time.

Why must you slap Vidic, Drogba? Why?

Eventually, the game headed for penalties. There Manchester United were to have their glory but not before Ronaldo had his penalty saved by Petr Cech, to give Chelsea a brief advantage.

When Terry squandered his opportunity to win it for the Blues, Anderson scored to level for United – then Kalou and Giggs both netted before Anelka stepped up for the final decisive spot-kick, saved superbly by Edwin van der Sar.

Edwin van der Sar’s penalty shoot-out save from Nicolas Anelka handed United only their third ever European Cup and ensured the Reds finished the season as double winners.

True champions of soccer – Manchester United

It is definitely a jubilant year for Manchester United as they celebrate a double for 2008. Champions of England and Champions of Europe!

Well done, Manchester United! Glory, Glory, Manchester United.

I declare that I am proud to be a Manchester United fan. Always and Forever.

American Idol 7 Finale – Who Will Win?

21 May 2008

David Archuleta and David Cook go head to head in American Idol 7 Finale.

Ai7

For Malaysians, if you have Astro at home, tune into Chanel 711 (Starworld) for the one hour finale performance at 6pm or 8pm or 1130pm tonight.

If you do not have Astro, do not worry. We thank God for the information superhighway. I will paste the Round 1 performances of both David Archuleta and David Cook, as well as the recap.

The judges mentioned that David Cook’s performance was phenomenal.

As for Round 1, Simon Cowell admitted it had to be Archuleta’s winning side.

Well, it all depends on the Americans who had voted for the past few hours crazily. If you can’t wait till tomorrow’s finale results at 6pm on Starworld (Chanel 711), you better login to the forum at Americanidol.com by 9:50am. You would know the results by then.

As for us in Malaysia, who do you think should win based on tonight’s performance?

You tell me.

Road Trip along the Coastal Way

19 May 2008

You see, I am someone who loves traveling and eating. But I hate the planning part. You know, the hassle of calling up each hotel and see if it’s available.

We decided to run the road trip without planning or any room reservation on this long weekend (Wesak Day). On Saturday morning, we went along the Coastal way of Penisular Malaysia, starting from Sungai Buloh.

Kuala Selangor

We just drove on till we reached Kuala Selangor.

I have never been to the rural areas of the coastal way, and at the same time we got to save up the toll fees.

Teluk Intan
“The Leaning Tower of Pisa” Malaysian Version

After 3 hours of driving, we finally reached Teluk Intan which was also known as Teluk Anson. Hit a coffee shop for a quick lunch before we drove on to Lumut.

Teluk Batik

We stopped at Teluk Batik in the evening to enjoy the soft sea breeze caressing our skins.

From Teluk Batik, we continued further inward across Ayer Tawar and Ipoh enroute to Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands

With no room reservations, we were damn lucky to get a room at Hotel Equatorial. It so happened a guy called up an hour ago to cancel his reservations. Thank God!

The weather in Camerons is always cool and refreshing. But this time around, there was a massive traffic jam at Brinchang, defilling the fresh mountain range air with exhaust fumes.

The ignorant drivers that started to cut queue added to the throbbing nausea.

Roti Ayam
Roti Ayam of Kampar

On the next day, we drove from Cameron Highlands down to Tapah and arrived at Kampar. We decided to try the ever famous “Chicken Curry Bread” at Kampar’s Restoran Yau Kee.

It was good but I find it expensive for RM20.00 per dish.

Roast Chicken?

And outside the Restoran Yau Kee, this is what we found out.

How could they roast chickens outside and worst still, hanging on the gas cylinders.

It is SO UNHYGIENIC!!!

Archuleta sang my favourite song!

15 May 2008

David Archuleta sang my favourite song last night.

OMG!!! Chris Brown’s With You has always been inside my iPod playlist and David sang it last night.

David belting his choice of number – With You by Chris Brown.

Somehow I somewhat agree with Simon Cowell’s comment on David is like “Chihuahua trying to be a tiger“. I can’t stop laughing at Simon’s comment.

However, he should sing more songs like this. Like what Paula said, we are so used listening to his ballads and it’s time to have a little change at times.

Nonetheless, both David Archuleta and David Cook are in the grand finale next week. I am so happy for the both of them because I am torn in between the two Davids.

Well, it’s up to the Americans to vote for their 7th season idol!! We shall voice out our preference based on next week’s finale performance.
