  5. nelly Says:

Holla. I used to work at a local audit firm somewhere in KL. My opinion by joining an audit firm u shall earn an enormous knowledges/experiences/skills. But as u mentioned great opportunities come with great responsibilities. And I left after 5 years. For those who want to be a professional accountant audit firm is always the best platform (plus if you love to do charity as well) If you can’t bear the pressure, forget it!!! I left coz I was no longer able to bear the ridicilous pressure. My ultimate choice will always be Petronas!!!!

  6. Grace Says:

Stacey/ Jason/ Mike: Thanks for dropping by. I hope my blog entries will continue to serve you with a purpose - reading pleasure. =)

    Kevin: So childish!! :P

Nelly: Yes, I agree with you totally. My friends are kinda suffering in BIG auditing firms and the pressure cooker is really draining them to the max now. It is seriously ridiculous.
Petronas on the other hand, employs mostly Bumiputeras for all I know. I haven’t heard of other ethnic groups getting in to Petronas all this while. Have you?

  7. Jesca Says:

erm…i think IBM shld be not too bad…good perks.

currently at E&Y…well, so far, learning curve is super steep…maybe a few nites of long hours…

would love to maxis (wat happen to Kev’s sis?)
but eventually, hopefully can work for some music-related industry corps…

  8. kevin Says:

grace : bugger. i was just being cute.

jess : my sis didnt get credited for work she has to clean up for maxis’ outsourced team. she then jumped to Digi as her COO not CEO was a jackass nonetheless.

  9. jccy Says:

wah…i was promoted to be working in that COMPANY =P anyway the desciptions you have is very true….hehehe

  10. JonazanTeo Says:

Sounds like a lot of job opportunities only if you can get in to work for them.

  11. Jesca Says:

so, basically, i can say, during the transition time, working for maxis sucks? or working under the COO sucks…haha.

oh well, hopefully we alll get to work at great places…*fingers crossed*

  12. geraldho Says:

getting into any of these companies are difficult….auditing firms requires people to work like a dog…and for long hours…it seems that it’s not gonna go any better…it’s just that everyone has to do it….at least that’s what most of my friends told me about….

Digi has been always reputable for their fun working environment…..and very high level of satisfaction for Digi’s employees…Oracle like what u mentioned, is one of the most established software systems provider…and a lot of Indians there, cos they are one of the best programmers in the world right now..haha

as for Petronas, it is untrue that they hire mostly Muslims or bumiputeras…..in fact..a lot of people that they send out for other countries to its subsidiaries are non-bumiputeras….but still..majority of its employees are bumiputeras la…

My Pick: Berjaya Group, Digi, Accenture, HP, Dell and last but not least, Air Asia. Come on…i love ot fly…muahahaha

  13. kevin Says:

jesca : working for what company doesnt suck?

jon : the only thing bout these big companies is the interview process. shell was very lengthy. and they still havent paid my 1.3k back.

gerald : audit work like dog? come to civil engr. sign that piece of paper and if anything happens to it, GONE BABY GONE.

  14. me0wster Says:

    Where’s my company?? Where’s Customware?!?

  15. Grace Says:

    Dear all,

Yes it seems like there’s a STRING of opportunities here. Sometimes I wonder why are we working like a dog mad man for long hours…. it needs to be balanced with quality of life. No use earning BIG mega bucks but at the end of the day you lose your quality of life, you lose your social life, you lose fellowship.

Now coming back to the TOP companies… looks like the TOP 30 listed here are some of your favourites too…

I wonder if any of them wants me by reading this post. Hahahahahaha…… I can continue to DREAM ON

  22. Robb Says:

    Where’s Nuffnang? XD
Some day~~ Someday it’s going to be there!

  23. kevin Says:

stan : apparently construction firms aren’t allowed to do mainstream advertising for headhunting. look at midvalley’s career fair. there were only 4 companies that had something to do with civil engineering.

  24. Grace Says:

Puvanan: You must be very brilliant and bright to get offered by Digi and Shell!!! I am envious of your achievements!! *tsk tsk tsk*

But as for IT related jobs, I’d vote for Shell and Hewlett Packard. But since Shell is now outsourcing its IT services to several vendors, So now the only good choice left only HP!!! (I’m not getting paid for promoting HP. LOL)

Anyway, all the MNC companies listed here should be fine..as long you have a good boss and nice working environment. Money is important but not EVERYTHING. Just like what Grace has said. :)

  30. Grace Says:

Kevin: Where is your portfolio as Jessica says? Hahahaha..

Charlie: I am sure your reward is in abundance in Digi!!

Felex: At the end of the day, it depends whether you would want to trade off your quality of life with the long hours when you earn big bucks in MNC giants.

Justin: Hey Justin, nice of you to drop by. Shell is always voted best by ppl. Even their own employees mentioned that. Yea, agree that as long as you have a good boss and nice working environment, stick with it. =)

  31. kevin Says:

    jesca : ehhh takde. sad.

grace : you got portfolio meh?

  32. Grace Says:

Kevin:At least I kept most of my press releases and college newsletters!!!!

  33. tokmoh Says:

IMHO, any international companies hv very good working ethics, as local ones are usually tainted with tak apa attitude. Of course lor, the ones who’d come here are public listed billion-dollars companies, they must have a great level of transparency, so that’s why they’re good. Else, easily kene attack by health & safety officers, environ-mental-ists n human rights activists. Msians one? Tak apa lah……lol

But I would believe if there are claims that these international companies have their dark side too. I know some in noS (the number which looks like this letter), so…I dun rly look fw to it.

Heck, me dun even look fw to work at all. Unless it’s something like those hosts in Discovery Travel & Living do, just visit places n makan free, or like Jeremy Clarkson thrashing around with Aston Martins n Ferraris, me hate work, lol. Me want pleasure in life, yohohohoho.

  34. Grace Says:

Tokmoh!!!!I echo your last sentence!!!! Me want to enjoy life too! Hehehehehe…

  35. Ch@rlie Says:

yeah there are lots of benefit. but like any other work place, there are bound to be work related stress. Just cant avoid it. But its fun at the end of the day.

  36. tokmoh Says:

    I repeat:

“ME WANT PLEASURE IN LIFE, YOHOHOHOHO!!”

Ch@rlie: Yeah, and the fun begins when all the suffering is over, go meet fellow frens nden Dota until pening kepala, yohohohoho.

  37. Grace Says:

Charlie: I love FUN. That is why I wish there is someone who can hire me to travel around and I blog and write about it!!

Tokmoh: I agree with you, Tokmoh…. WE WANT PLEASURE and QUALITY OF LIFE!!!!

  38. kevin Says:

  39. Grace Says:

  42. Olatunji Says:

I want to know if I can get job in Malysia for an international applicant. I am from Nigeria aged 38 years, graduate with the Masters in Managerial psychology.

  43. RS Says:

i am studying in aussie now. i am thinking of coming back to msia to work in a big 4 company (audit). WHich company do u think is the best to work in.. in terms of less stress and hours. and my grades are average, so is it easy getting in?

  44. Grace Says:

Olatunji : Sorry for the late reply. I am not too sure regarding psychology. But I do have some friends who graduate with psychology degrees, ended up working with HR dept in Big companies.

RS : BIG 4 is always about Stress and Overtime!! It’s kinda easy to get into Deloitte as they are looking for ppl…but definitely gonna be stress as an auditor…

  45. Ray Says:

to RS..i think you are able to enter any of the Big 4 if your grade is average…their requirement is not extremely high…i believe PWC,Ernst & Young and KPMG is pretty good in auditing..Deloitte is struggling at the moment in audit field…the reality is all Big 4 firms is pressure…
