Kuey Teow Chicken – Vietnam Style!

17 February 2008

It’s been 3 weeks since I came back from Hanoi. I am still missing Vietnam right now. How can I not miss this country with lots of good street food?

This particular street noodle stall is found in Hang Dao street, where almost every shop along the street is selling jackets and sweaters!

Can you even imagine how this narrow alley can fit a noodle stall?

Most of the food stalls here are found to be in this fashion and I believe if a person is as fat as Randy Jackson err, probably twice your size, would probably find it hard to squeeze in.

Not only that, all of us have to sit on the teeny-weeny stools to enjoy the food. It looks as if we’re squatting to shit answer nature call!

The usual stools that we find in Malaysia are being used as tables in Vietnam. This is particularly not tall-friendly as it strains the back muscles after long periods. My friend had to stand up and stretch every 5 minutes!!

I can guarantee you 110% that this Vietnamese Kuey Teow Chicken is thousand times better than any you find in Ipoh!!
It’s so good that all of us took an extra serving!

Ah, who cares about backaches when we are able to enjoy slim and smooth Kuey Teow with Chicken in Hanoi?

Valentine’s Corner

13 February 2008

It’s all about LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!

Valentine’s Day is approaching. In fact, you have about 5 and a half hours to get ready before Valentine’s Day strikes at midnight!

Valentine's Day

Some might deem Valentine’s Day as a daylight robbery when everything about love is being commercialised. (Read: roses, cards, etc.)

However, there are a niche group would still consider Valentine’s Day as a day to remember how love has brought their loved ones together.

This is actually bought for Kev Bear.

Now, have you bought roses, or cards, or gifts, or even chocolates for your loved ones?

If not, it is still not too late to get one now.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you who are celebrating tomorrow.
(And I will wonder what are the surprises I will get from my Kev Bear)

Celebrating CNY

11 February 2008

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

I just came back to KL yesterday. It was definitely awesome being able to celebrate the Chinese New Year in my hometown, Ipoh.
How was your Chinese New Year celebration?

CNY
Red Packet from Maxis

Did you collect many Ang Pows this year? I think I would only count the total amount at the end of this week, because I am still collecting from all those married couples out there. (*Giggles*)

CNY
L-R: Me, 5th Aunty, Mummy, My little niece (5th aunty’s granddaughter)

Isn’t it good to get together with your extended family members in this festive season? You get to see your grandparents, uncles and aunties, nieces and nephews. Not only that, I would definitely enjoy the moments of receiving Ang Pows from my uncles and aunties.

L-R: Thomas, Me, Veronica, Catherina, Nicholas

Chinese New Year is also a time to reunite with some beloved cousins whom I only meet once a year! My cousin, Thomas is getting married soon! My goodness, this shows how time flies!

CNY
We attended GFS Banting together those days. And somehow all of us were from Ipoh.

Besides family members, this is the time you do house visitations and catch up with long lost friends!!!

CNY
A reunion for the Main Convent Darlings (Class of 2001) in Old Town Kopitiam, Ipoh

It is also one of the best times to reunite with high school sweethearts. For me, I am glad to be able to meet all of my Main Convent sweethearts except for one (Jacynta) who is still working in UK!

Especially when everyone starts to work, it will be lesser time for each other to keep in touch. That’s why I am always looking forward for Chinese New Year in order to meet these darlings.

CNY
Lou Sang or Yee Sang is a dish available during the Chinese New Year festival!

During Chinese New Year, most families would “Lou Sang” at least once!!

CNY
Food glorious food!!!

And of course, this is the time when your mum would cook the best dishes to feed your family!

Who doesn’t love Chinese New Year?

With so many Ang Pows and good food around, who doesn’t?
