Schools are SHARKS!

3 January 2008

First of all, schools in Malaysia reopen today.

For many of us, school should be FUN and LEARNING!

I am sure many of us do miss our schooling days, agree?

Now, school fees are being scrapped off for the 2008 session.
YEAH! We should be rejoicing about it right?

But, today I found out from my younger brother, who is only a Primary 6 student from a National school, that he needed another whopping RM171 to pay for some miscellaneous fees as mentioned by his school teacher.

Then, he gave me an itemised list which he copied from school.

WHAT THE HECK?

What the heck is the ‘Pakej Bayaran Tambahan‘ which is made compulsory to be paid?

Worst still, I didn’t know that they have to pay RM50 for ‘Sumbangan Keceriaan & Pembangunan‘.

Doesn’t the Ministry of Education pump in some of the budgeted money into national schools for this purpose? Now what happened to the allocated taxpayers’ money for the education sector??

Now look at this.

This is totally ABSURD!!!

Why do the students need to pay RM3.00 for a book of rules? Does a book of a few pages cost that much nowadays?

What the heck is ‘Buku Adat‘? Culture book?

And this is making me crazy. This is totally a daylight robbery for a set of 4 passport photos to cost RM8.00!! Man, they are making lots of profit in schools nowadays.

Since when did the schools turn to be SHARKS?

govt boleh! Over the radio waves (Fly FM) there is a govt msg stating that schools are entitled to charge for whatever fees that are deemed necessary for the school after the govt has announce they will not longer charge for examination fees.

    well. know why?

    Education Minister = Hishamuddin

  6. kevin Says:

sha : i seriously dont recall about any buku adat or anything like that.

johnny : perhaps you had bad experiences with malays. i am not defensive of them but in my uni, i find that the malays are better friends compared to the chinese that stab you in the back any chance they get.

linda : you u take a look…i dont remember SUMBANGA PIBG to be compulsary at a amount.

jccy : nah, IMHO, the govt schools are emulating the chinese schools were they forcefully get funds from the students to upgrade the school and their own personal homes.

    To all,

Interesiting..BUKU ADAT…i cant wait to see what’s in it..maybe Grace can show us what is it when the bro gets a copy of it…
on the other hand…..i honestly think sumbangan to PIBG is too much…..and the funny thing is..in my school, the PIBG was made up of super rich and wealthy ppl…why cant they contribute financially, honestly we dont really need so much of their BRAINS…..no offence to those parents who were in PIBG……

  8. Foxtroxt Says:

yo yo kevin.. i wasn’t referring to any malays oh! how in the freak did i start to target malays? ahha.. all i said was Boo to Malayisa Boleh.. that kinda thing.. not to malays only.. >.<..

Booo to Kevin for misunderstanding! boo! haha! ^_^

  9. Grace Says:

    Dear Gerald/Kevin/Linda/JCCY/Sha/Foxxie

I only know that I wasn’t really happy when I saw the whole list from my brother. I just can’t believe he is made to pay all these unnecessary things which some are really absurd and unpractical in his schooling days.

Come on, how can u force people to pay RM50 for PIBG? I remember those days, parents are given a freewill to pay any amount for sumbangan PIBG. I still remembered I only paid RM5 those days. Reasonable right?

I mean there are so many students in a school. Getting RM50 from each student, GOSH… this school will be FAT wei….!!!!

And they ‘re getting another RM50 for beautifying the school! Gosh…. PLEASE…. ministry of education should be coming in for that… they should be pumping more cash to schools for better facilities…not the students themselves… after all, this is a NATIONAL school not a private school!

Darn! I am so pissed. Seriously… it’s like WHAT THE DURIAN is buku adat????
I have totally no idea, Sha.. Will wait till my bro get hold of it!!!

  10. geraldho Says:

    muahahahaa….Foxtroxt…muahahaa..oh come on!!!!

    God help the schools….:)

  11. s2k_247 Says:

Johnny: I agree with Kevin on this… not all malay ppl are bad… suffice to say that all races have their share of dumbasses… And the “Malaysia Boleh” thing is a good way to look at motivating yourself, but some people take it out of context a.k.a. entering the longest tug-of-war competition into the world records rather than improving the level of achievement in Malaysia… this is whole “increased school fees” fiasco is in the same vein as that… Dumb people misusing a good idea…

Kevin: There never was a buku adat… There was a moral book that thought us all that… lol…

  12. kevin Says:

    johnny : opps my bad!

sha : got buku moral meh? maybe i make kapal terbang with it.

grace & the rest : I used to remember that PTA contributions were up to the contributor. but with that said, I remember I gave only RM 1 back then and the teacher was constantly up my ass the entire year for that.

  13. Grace Says:

Gerald: How will God help the schools when the MOE is ignorant about this???

    Sha: Ah….. welcome to BODOH-Land!!!!!

Kev: RM1? That is a bit stingy wehhh!!!! Mine at least was a reasonable decent RM5.00 lah!!!!

  14. jesca Says:

wow…this thing is everywhere..i mean, u shld complain to the govt..

  15. lyns Says:

For my former school (MES) we paid Rm25 for Sumbangan PIBG. MES is like the outskirt school in Selangor so i guess RM50 shouldnt be too much for a city school like DU? DU is the rich arse school when DJ (high school) is the rich arse spoilt brat schoool =P *that’s what every DU-ian says* so i believe… DJ kids PROBABLY pay even more than DU-ians!!!

Chill lar Grace. It’s your bro’s final year already. Just make sure ya bro study hard hard and make use of all the facilities that he had paid for it. =P

    anyway what is buku adat?

  16. Grace Says:

Jesca: Elections are here…. voice it out thru the ballot boxes perhaps..

Lyns: Hahaha… I didnt know about this. Oh well, when he enters Form 1 next year, I bet there is more to pay!!!!!

  17. Foxtroxt Says:

How on earth did my 1st entry in this become a racist statement? does it not state clearly that its about malaysia boleh moto and never ever about malays? i did mention “Malaysia Boleh” AND “Malay language” and that 2nd word meaning Malay = B.MELAYU… eekks.. i’m sorry if i’m making this big but its big cos 2 ppl misunderstood it when it was clear it wasn’t about malays. Get the picture and that sentence jus b4 this? NOW thats REFFERING TO MALAY. but i’ve nothink against them. >.<”

    To s2k_247,
hope u uunderstand… re-read the entry again and check out if there is anytink wif the meaning Malay which is targetting Malay Ppl.

  18. Grace Says:

    Hmmm I guess they’ve misunderstood you, Johnny…Chilll!!!!

  19. Foxtroxt Says:

i’m chill lah.. sumtimes i duun like the word chill when i’m chilled and having a say in wad i did nothink wrong.. so the word chill doesn’t suit the time. its jus misunderstanding i know but i am chilled. now i’m not since u said chill plus so much exclamations. now u can say chill cos tat is jus unappropriated honestly. sigh..
